It has been over a decade of successes and
difficulties since Global Institute of Environment & Sustainable
Development, or GIESD, was brainstormed at Tsinghua,-Beijing China and later
adapted and developed at Yale-New Haven, USA.
During the past decade, GIESD has been firmly standing on global think,
local act between Tsinghua for self-independence and also Yale for Lux Et
Veritas.
The past decade has seen
GIESD with its enriched experience and also valuable lesson, especially from
its focuses of global collaborations of research, training and other
educational activities, among the tops are the innovation and development of Yale-Tsinghua
Environment & Sustainable Development Leadership Program, or ESDLP; the
collaboration and development of UNEP-Tongji Asia Pacific Leadership Program on
Environment for Sustainable Development, or APLP. At each step and among each activity, one can
clearly see the efforts and support from GIESD.
While actively participating
global collaborations of research, development and training programs, GIESD
intensifies its advancement with elite training for leaders from Chinese
municipalities and students from varieties of schools from senior high,
college, graduate schools and even Post PhD studies. The unique program of
Education Ecosystem Practice or EEP is a good example. EEP based on the research and development of
GIESD’s Urban Environmental Crisis Management or UECM etc., as bases and
platforms for outstanding students from China and abroad to practice, to
participation and also to make each contributions for individual advancement
and sustainability.
Being at Yale- New Haven, GIESD is enriched by
the education soil as a cradle for creativities and development. During the past decade, GIESD has not only
proudly witnessed many Yalies with his or her successes, but also tasted the diversified
environments and challenged opportunities just as the reality of life even
though it indeed is among the world best! While engaging in the globalization
and localization right here in New Haven, GIED has been making its own way to
advance. While promoting globally learning attitude, its development must be
primarily relying on the true believes and trust among the best.
